Tombstone won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Barry Bonds started the attack as he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 10th of the season). Miguel Cabrera stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Alberto Castillo then lined a single. Jaime Cerda then uncorked a wild pitch plating one more runner. John Olerud was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Eric Hinske added to the rally and singled scoring the final run of the inning. Eddy Rodriguez(1-1) got relief help from Brian Bruney who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Ryan Drese(2-4). He allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
